In this example, we’ll describe the Ecobyte domain name brokerage process using two individuals: Martha, the current owner and seller of the domain name example.com, and Steve, the interested party looking to purchase the example.com domain name.
Steve is a long-time client of Ecobyte and opts to use our Domain Name Brokerage service. While completing the checkout form, Steve is asked to enter the domain name he wishes to purchase, his initial offer, and finally, the maximum amount of money that he’s willing to purchase domain name for.
Steve enters $500.00 for the initial offer and $2,500.00 for the maximum amount he’s willing to spend. Once the checkout form is complete, a support ticket is automatically opened with Ecobyte’s Domain Name Brokerage team and Steve is charged the non-refundable fee of $49.
On our side, an Ecobyte Domain Name Specialist is assigned to the task of performing research into the domain name Steven entered on the checkout form. Once contact information for the owner of the domain name has been located, Ecobyte reaches out to Martha on Steve’s behalf with Steve’s initial offer, $500.00 USD, for the domain name. This communication may either happen via email or over the phone between Steve’s Domain Name Specialist and Martha.
Martha considers Steve’s offer, but chooses to propose a counteroffer for $1,500.00.
Steve is informed of the counteroffer and is provided with insight and recommendations on how to proceed should he wish to counter the offer Martha sent back.
At this point, Steve can choose to counter Martha’s counteroffer, agree to the $1,500.00 private sale of example.com, or withdraw from the process.
The previous three steps will continue to cycle until Steve agrees to finalize the purchase or chooses to withdraw from the purchasing process. In our example, Steve accepts the $1,500.00 counteroffer Martha proposes.
Ecobyte then informs Steve of the agreement via the opened support ticket and an invoice is generated for $1,500.00. As soon as the transaction goes through, Ecobyte proceeds with the purchase of the domain name on Steve’s behalf.
It can take up to seven calendar days for the domain name to be systematically transferred to Ecobyte; once the domain name is acquired and fully accessible by our team, another invoice is generated for $375, which is equivalent to the 25% of the private sale value of $1,500–this is the Commission of Sale.
Steve authorizes this invoice and, within 24 hours, will be the new owner of example.com.
